our most popular custom gaming computers. Don't get us wrong
we love AMD but Intel wins our overall recomendation...for now.
The Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, and the Core 2 Duo do very
very well in our gaming computers overall we highly recomend Intel
processors for all the custom gaming computers we build.Lately AMD has been one step behind Intel in regards to performace
and sometimes even pricing. AMD's processors are very affordable
and give a good performance. AMD's latest Phenom series of CPU's
closes some of the gap Intel has gained on them but AMD is still
stuck on the 65nm CPU while Intel has moved on to 45nm CPU's.
Overall the Athlon 64 X2 and Phenom processors have done great in
our custom gaming computers. We recomend them especialy for budget gaming computers.
In a gaming computer you will want to prioritize the amount of your budget you allocate to different components. The 3 components that you will want to pay attention to are going to be the video card, memory, and processor. When configuring a custom gaming computer your video card should be your top priority, then your memory, and then your CPU. Your goal should be to find a great video card, then enough memory, and then a CPU with enough power to support the memory and the video card you select.
